Reducing Environmental Impact with Teleconferencing

NEC Fielding has been making extensive use of teleconferencing both as a means of strengthening Companywide communication as well as reducing environmental impact and expenses, utilizing the teleconferencing system for a wide variety of meetings. Because participants can attend teleconferences without traveling, they reduce CO2 emissions as well as energy consumption.

The effect that teleconferencing has had in reducing our environmental impact in the past month, estimated by the measure of LCA, is shown in the graph below.

In fiscal 2003, we plan to overhaul our teleconferencing system to prevent overbooking of the system and expand its use.

CO2 Emissions

Environmental Impact of Teleconferencing

Environmental impact (monthly) Teleconferencing Business trip
CO2 emissions (tons)

Energy consumption (gigajoules)
